I have a bone to pick with Central PA. A huge story dropped earlier this year, and I seem to be the only one posting about it. A small-town Myerstown dirt track team was acquired by NASCAR driver Chase Briscoe.
C’mon, local media outlets, you are missing out on the significance of this acquisition.
I saw a few articles when it happened, but for those who haven’t paid attention—here’s the news (again).
The “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks sold his race team to Chase Briscoe.
Here’s why it’s a big deal.
Chase Briscoe drives for Joe Gibbs Racing. Yes. THE Joe Gibbs. Wildly successful NFL coach turned auto racing mogul.
Over the last few years, Briscoe has won 8 races and recently came off a back-to-back win.
Briscoe is becoming a regular winner at the top level of stock car racing. He also has been a personality featured in the show “Full Speed,” which follows the drivers and their families.
The Central Pennsylvania Connection
Brent Marks’ racing career doesn’t get Cup-level coverage, but he’s represented the PA Posse in his own way.
He was an independent driver and owner for years after he competed in the World of Outlaws series. According to an article from 2025, Marks said the cost of ownership and location made sense for his Central PA shop.
However, things happened fast.
He couldn’t pass up the chance to be an inaugural team for NASCAR’s Kyle Larson and World of Outlaw legend Brad Sweet’s new sprint series.
High Limit Racing.
Again, how are people not talking about this?! A 2-time NASCAR champion (going for his 3rd) and 5-time World of Outlaw champion.
Chase Briscoe wanted in on that.
So, he approached Marks to acquire his race team and franchise (the equivalent of a charter) in the High Limit Racing series.
Marks had stated publicly that he wants to focus on being a driver. He also maintains the status of General Manager of Chase Briscoe Racing.
All of this comes back to Myerstown, where Marks comes from. A town of roughly 3,000 residents.
I’ve moved away and returned back to the Reading area to raise a family. I grew up closer to Myerstown than I do now.
It’s an overlooked area. It’s the type of region you appreciate when you come back.
Friday night lights, trucks and cornfields, hardworking people.
The fact that a NASCAR driver is directly associated with the area is HUGE, and I’ll keep posting about it until more people hitch their half-tons to this racing trailer.
